Rising global energy demand and continued reliance on fossil fuels increase environmental and climate challenges. To address these issues, the Faculty of Engineering of Universitas Diponegoro and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa organize the Summer Workshop 2026 as an inclusive platform for engineering students to collaborate, gain real-world insights, and develop innovative solutions for future sustainable energy challenges.
With the theme “City and Energy: Towards Sustainability, Resilience, Equity”, this Summer Course will bring participants to do site visits to communities in and around the Semarang city to enable an appreciation of the multiple implications of energy dynamics for cities. Besides that, participants will also be complemented with lectures and group work. This is a unique opportunity to experience new cultures and learn together with students from different backgrounds.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation, the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, and by the World Class University Program at Universitas Diponegoro
