(5/6) The Faculty of Engineering Undip officially dispatched the Antawirya team to take part in this year’s eco-friendly car competitions. The launching ceremony was held in the Dekanat Building 1st Floor and was attended by representatives from the Department of Mechanical Engineering Undip, the Faculty of Engineering Undip, and the Directorate of Academic, Students, and Alumni Affairs Undip.

Antawirya is a research team under the student executive board of mechanical engineering (Himpunan Mahasiswa Mesin/HMM Undip) that focused on eco-friendly car research. Antawirya planned to participate in two major competitions, named Shell Eco-Marathon 2023 which will be held at Mandalika International Circuit on 4-9 July 2023, and Kontes Mobil Hemat Energi 2023 (Energy-Efficient Car Contest 2023) organized by Pusat Prestasi Nasional (Puspresnas, National Achievement Center) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (MoECRT) on 11-18 October 2023.

Vinsensius Farel, the General Manager of Antawirya explained that there are two prototypes developed by the Antawirya team, named Gentayu and Rondhan. Gentayu is an eco-friendly gasoline-fueled car that uses a modified engine with a capacity of 125 cc and is able to accelerate up to 75 km/h. Meanwhile, Rondhan is an electric car that uses a BLDC Motor system and weighs 25 kg. These two prototypes had previously won many awards, including winning 4th place in Urban Internal Combustion Engine category for Asia Region in Shell Eco-Marathon 2022.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M, M.Sc, Ph.D, is fully supporting the Antawirya team. He said that the Faculty of Engineering is ready to facilitate all the needs of the students who want to conduct research, especially those related to the development of eco-friendly technology. He hoped that the Antawirya team can achieve satisfactory results, “I hoped that they (Antawirya) can get the best results,” he said.

Hanifa M. Denny, S.KM, MPH, Ph.D, the Director of Academic, Students, and Alumni Affairs Undip, also gave her support to the Antawirya team. According to her, what the Antawirya team has done will not only make Undip or the Faculty of Engineering proud but also make Indonesian proud at the International level. “From here we prove that Indonesia has pride, Indonesia has integrity,” she said.
