(16/8) The Doctoral Program of Urban and Regional Planning is officially opened by the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (DURP) Undip. The inauguration ceremony was held at Lecture Building B, Department of URP Undip. In this ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Undip was present with the Head of the Department of URP, the Head of the Bachelor and Master Programs of URP Undip, the founders and elders of URP Undip, teaching staff, and academic staff of the Department of URP Undip.
The Head of the Department of URP Undip, Prof. Dr.Ing. Wiwandari Handayani, S.T., M.T., MPS, was grateful for the opening of this new doctoral program. She revealed that this study program is one of the performance targets that the Department had long wanted for it to be achieved. She was thankful because this study program could be established through the cooperation of the parties involved. “I want to express my deepest gratitude because when I was appointed as the Head of the Department there were 3 Key Performance Indicators that I presented. Alhamdulillah (thank God) one of them has been accomplished, which is to inaugurate the Doctoral Program of URP. I would like to thank the Dean and all of the lecturers. I really feel that all of these achievements are the results of our solidarity, collaboration, and support,” she said.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Undip, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M, M.Sc, Ph.D, welcomed the opening of this new study program. He ordered the administrators of the Department of URP Undip to maintain good governance, harmony, and cooperation in order to make all the parties involved comfortable while working and producing quality students. “Once more, congratulations to all ladies and gentlemen here, hopefully, we can carry out this mandate well, and become a team that is useful for everyone,” he said.
The Department of Urban and Regional Planning Undip previously had bachelor and master programs that have been accredited as excellent and accredited internationally by ASIIN (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik). Prof. Wiwandari hoped that this new study program would not only recruit many students but also contribute to Indonesia. “Hopefully it will not only get a lot of students, but more importantly it can contribute to the benefits of the nation and the country,” she said.
