The event was held at the Engineering Hall, Dekanat Building 5th Floor. At this event, also present the Head of the Professional Education for Engineers Program (PSPPI) Undip, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widayat, ST, MT, IPM, ASEAN Eng, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Undip, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M, M.Sc, Ph.D, and the General Secretary of the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII, similar to the Order of the Engineer), Ir. Bambang Goeritno, M.Sc, MPA, IPU.

The event began with the singing of the National Anthem of Indonesia, Indonesia Raya, and the Hymn of the Engineers (Himne Insinyur). The event then continued with some speeches. The first speech was delivered by the Head of the Professional Education for Engineers Program (PSPPI), Prof. Dr. Ir. Widayat, S.T,M.T,IPM, ASEAN Eng. In his remarks, he said that there were 131 engineers who graduated from the PSPPI Faculty of Engineering in this 8th oath-taking ceremony, therefore 448 engineers have graduated from the PSPPI Faculty of Engineering since this program was established. According to Prof. Widayat, even though PSPPI uses learning methods that are quite obsolete, but in principle this professional engineers program is still implemented as a professional program in general, thus not only the recognition for the engineer education practices that are pursued, but also the case study report that is passed by them as the requirements needed for them to be graduated from the program. This is what distinguishes PSPPI Undip from professional engineer programs at other universities. It is expected that from the existence of the case study report, the graduates from PSPPI not only receive recognition, but also receive engineering works that can be published in various journals both international and/or national.

Prof Widayat also stated that PSPPI will have its own journal publication which is planned to be ready in this year. The PSPPI Journal later will serve as a place to accommodate the works from engineering best practices that have been experienced by the professional education for engineer program’s participants in Universitas Diponegoro. This journal, according to Prof. Widayat, will later be named Jurnal Profesi Insinyur Indonesia, and will involve alumni from both the professional engineer program at Universitas Diponegoro or from other universities that also hold the professional engineer program, such as Universitas Petra, Universitas Jember, and other universities.

Further remarks were delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, MM, MSc, PhD. In his remarks, he emphasized how the engineers from PSPPI Undip should have strengthened various vital sectors in Indonesia, such as agriculture, livestock, energy, and food security sectors. According to him, those sectors need to be “engaged” together. Prof Agung also stated that the commitment of the Faculty of Engineering to achieve the accreditations with national and international standards is intended to develop the world of education, especially in the field of professional education for engineers, because the vision of the Faculty of Engineering is to become an excellent research-based faculty.
