(13/7) A student from the Faculty of Engineering Undip successfully won the prestigious international competition titled KB Solveathon Tournament 2023. A student named Nadia Nursaidatina Arifah Putri from Environmental Engineering Undip class of 2020 won the title Champions with the Game Changer team after defeating 16 participants in the final round held at the KB Insurance Ingenium Building in Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea
KB Solveathon Tournament 2023 itself is a debate competition organized by Kookmin Bank (KB) Group, one of the leading financial groups in South Korea, in collaboration with Debate Kora and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in South Korea. In this competition, participants are required to solve the problems regarding the financial future of KB Bank for 42 hours. In this competition, 16 participants from Indonesia were selected from 200 applicants to go to South Korea and undergo the final round with the participants from South Korea.
In this competition, Nadia with other four students from Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Trisakti, and Yonsei University, discussed in one team to solve problems related to the lack of public awareness of the services offered by Bank KB Bukopin as a subsidiary of KB Group in Indonesia. The team named “Game Changer” then offered a financial literacy solution in the form of a gamified financial system based on points and mission in one digital application. From this idea they made their way to the Grand Final and won the Champions title as well as other prizes such as competition money and the opportunity to participate in an academic exchange with leading universities abroad.
Nadia Nursaidatina Arifah Putri, one of the members of the Game Changer team from Universitas Diponegoro admitted that she was quite surprised to win this prestigious competition. She said that the participants had impressive backgrounds that made her feel less confident at the beginning. However, her team’s hard work successfully brought satisfying results. “In this competition, the participants also have cool backgrounds, some of them are IISMA alumni, and some of them are Mapres (Mahasiswa Berprestasi, Outstanding Students), so I didn’t expect to win. My team at that time worked really that they rarely sleep to solve the case. So it all paid off well and we won,” said Nadia.
In this competition, Nadia not only competed, she also had the opportunity to interact and exchange culture with the students from South Korea and discussed directly with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to South Korea. She advised other students especially from Universitas Diponegoro to dare to take the opportunities available so that they can win some day. “For me, don’t be afraid to pursue what becomes your dream, because becoming a champion here also requires a lot of sacrifices and failures. But, everything you lose is a step you take, everything will be paid off at the right time.”
