(14/6) The Faculty of Engineering Undip was visited by Curtin University. The visitation event took place in the Senate Room, Dekanat Building 3rd Floor. At this event, the Deputy Dean of Research and Development and Director of Curtin Malaysia Graduate School, Prof. Agus Saptoro, was present with Ms. Patricia Kelly from Global Curtin as the representative from Curtin University.
This visit is a follow-up to the previous cooperation initiatives that had been successfully held between the Faculty of Engineering Undip and Curtin University. Besides, the International Office team of the Faculty of Engineering, the heads of the study programs, and the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) students were also invited to listen to the presentation of a new mobility scheme offered by Curtin University to the Faculty of Engineering, two of which are Double Degree program and International Credit Transfer.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M, M.Sc, Ph.D, welcomed the visit from Curtin University this time. According to him, the visit from the Faculty of Engineering’s overseas partners is a good moment for students to prepare themselves to study at one of the best universities in Australia. For him, the International Undergraduate Program students can fulfill their obligation to get international exposure at Curtin University. “For the IUP students, it is mandatory to get international exposure. If there is an opportunity to study at Curtin, seize it,” he said.
Up to now, the Faculty of Engineering has collaborated with Curtin University in several fields, including research and education. This can be seen from the success of the Double Degree program held by the Department of URP and the Department of Chemical Engineering together with Curtin University. During this visit, Prof. Agung also hoped that wider collaboration opportunities could be realized in the future. “Hopefully in the future, we can do other collaborations, such as capacity building for the lecturer and staff as well as other Double Degree and Credit Transfer Systems with other departments,” he said.
The representative from Curtin University, Prof. Agus Saptoro, also thanked the Faculty of Engineering Undip. According to him, Undip is one of Curtin University’s strategic partners in the Southeast Asia Region. As a strategic partner, it is appropriate for Curtin University to keep the relationship that has been created by conducting follow-ups to check how far the collaboration that has been agreed upon is running. He hoped the collaboration between Curtin University and the Faculty of Engineering can run well. “Let us change the competitions into collaborations,” he said.
