2024 Summer DGIST Research Internship Program for Undergraduates

Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), a leading research-oriented public university in South Korea, currently offers talented students from across the world an opportunity to experience the research environment at DGIST.

Are you interested in gaining research experience and exploring Korean cultural activities? Do you aspire to study abroad, enhance your research skills, engage with international students, and participate in intercultural activities? This program would be the perfect choice for you.

At DGIST, you will do an internship at your own chosen laboratories under the guidance of DGIST faculty members as visiting research interns for 5 weeks, starting from June 24 to July 26, 2024.

Application period: April 5 – April 19, 2024 (Korean Standard Time, UTC+09.00)

Here are various research topics of 7 departments at DGIST Graduate School that you can choose for your internship program (check the websites to know more about the available labs and research topics of the lab):

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate student with at least 4 completed semesters
  • Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.3 or higher
  • Students with high levels of English language proficiency
  • Student visa (D-2) holders in Korea are not eligible for this program, except for DGIST students.

Benefits

  • Financial Support
    Participants will get the program fee waiver and receive around KRW 759.000 for accommodation and meals within 1-2 weeks of arrival. Participants only cover for registration expenses, airfare, insurance, visa,  etc.
  • On-campus Accommodation
    Participants are arranged to stay at on-campus Student Dormitory with accommodation fees of approximately KRW 7.510 a day
  • Korean Cultural Activities
    International students will have the opportunity to experience Korean culture and society firsthand every two weeks with no additional fee.
  • DGIST’s Buddy
    Participants will meet Buddies who will offer guidance and support for international members regarding campus life.

ITU Generation Connect Youth Envoys Application 2024

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for information and communication technologies matters, currently opens the opportunity for youth from ITU Member States to be a part of the ITU Generation Connect Youth Envoys.

Generation Connect is a flagship initiative of the ITU Youth Strategy which aims at supporting youth involvement in amplifying their voices and views in ICT-related matters discussed on various activities and programs of ITU. The Youth Envoys is an opportunity for the youth generation to exchange and share their experiences and ideas on how they contribute to implementing meaningful connectivity and sustainable digital transformation and discussing how youth participation in countries can help shape the future information and communication landscape through strategies and initiatives supported by governments.

Youth Envoys from each country involved in Generation Connect could be eligible to join skill-building and internship opportunities and training and access the youth global network through participation in various selected regional and global ITU events and initiatives.

This program is voluntary and specified for youth eligible with these criteria:

  1. Aged between 18 and 24 years old on the date of the application deadline at 10 February 2024.
  2. Candidates from diverse educational backgrounds are welcome, including those from informal education backgrounds (without recognized academic degrees), if they can prove their knowledge or specific interest in ICTs, reflected in the implementation of the projects/activities they have led and/or played a significant role in. Education background in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Social and Human Sciences, and Law Studies would be an asset.
  3. Committed and dedicated to implementing the use of ICTs for educational purposes, socio-economic advancement, or youth empowerment, showcased in numerous ways of impactful activities/projects at a community, national, regional, or global level
  4. Have an interest in the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and/or related UN programs regarding digital inclusion and empowerment of youth through ICTs.
  5. Dedicated to helping vulnerable groups would be highly valued

After fill out the required application data on the form, applicants are required to share a short biography (maximum 150 words) as well as their motivation to join this program in line with the eligibility afore-mentioned compulsory requirements and assets (maximum 600 words)

‘‘Work in Shizuoka Fuji no Kuni Mensetsukai’’ is a face-to-face Interview Fair held in Bandung, Indonesia for two days, starting from 2 December to 3 December 2023. Candidates will have job interviews with several Japanese companies, which will be a great opportunity to get job offers in just 2 days

This event is an opportunity to experience interviews with Japanese companies that are actively recruiting people from Indonesia. During the application period, participants will choose the company they desire to be interviewed with, submit their CV, and have a pre-meeting with consultants from Connect Job. Participants will have the opportunity to do interviews with several Japanese companies at once and even get an offer as soon as possible.

Master’s Level Dual Degree Program for Graduate Students at Pukyong National University 2024

According to the Memorandum of Agreement on the Master’s level Dual Degree Program for Graduate Students between the Graduate School of Pukyong National University and the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Diponegoro, Pukyong National University opens the quota for 6 (six) students from the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Diponegoro to take the Dual Master Degree Program at the Graduate School of Pukyong National University in the first semester of 2024.

Pukyong National University is the first university in Busan and one of the most respected universities in South Korea. You can obtain new academic and cultural experiences in South Korea while achieving a dual degree certificate in related studies that is internationally recognized by Universitas Diponegoro and Pukyong National University.

Requirements (Check Attachment 1 for more detailed information):

  • Academic Requirements
    • Have finished at least 18 credits in Universitas Diponegoro (proven by the latest Official Academic Transcript from Universitas Diponegoro)
    • Proficient in English (proven by an English Proficiency Test certificate, such as TOEFL, with a minimum of 500, or similar documents)
    • Korean Language Course is an elective course in PKNU, if you have a certificate that proves the ability to speak Korean, you can attach it
  • Other Requirements
    • Recommendation Letter for Admission from Academic Advisor (Attachment 2)
    • Self-Introduction Form (Attachment 3)
    • Research Plan (Attachment 5)
    • Application Form (Application for Graduate School Admission (Attachment 1) and Application for Dual Degree Program (Attachment 2))
    • Passport
    • A Certificate of Employment or Taxation of Financial Sponsor (notarization required)
    • An original copy of a Bank Statement of Financial Sponsor with the Balance of at least $18,000
    • Official Certificate/Letter of Statement of Master Degree Enrollment from Universitas Diponegoro

Because the field of study is not specified in the Agreement, Pukyong National University will check the Department’s acceptance status after receiving the application.

All the documents must be filled out in English, and for Attachment 1, please only prepare and fulfill the Dual Master Degree Program Applicant checklist.
