(10/3) Semarang – In the beginning of 2021, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro proved service quality and organizational quality by obtaining the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 9001: 2015) certification which was obtained in 2019. Faculty was assessed by the TUV Rheinland External Audit Team on 9-10 March 2021. The assessment was carried out by online media in the midst of a pandemic. The assessment included quality services in 12 departments, academic systems and lectures, business processes, facilities in the faculty such as libraries & laboratories.
Head of the External Audit Team Dr. Suliswiyadi said that overall the Faculty had a high commitment to implement ISO 9001:2015 management system. Some of the evidence were the Leaders of the Faculty implemented ZI WBK (Corruption Free Zone and Integrity Zone), produced professors with significant results (38 people), budget absorption reached > 90%, the number of international publications (journals: 135), (proceedings: 214), and had 34 achievements (10 at the international level and 24 at the national level). With these good results, FT deserves ISO 9001:2015 certification.
Responding to this achievement, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Ir. Moch. Agung Wibowo expressed his gratitude to all parties who involved in this process. He said, “thank you for the Deputy Deans, Head of Departments, Head of Study Programs, TPMF Team, GPM Team, as well as Administrators, Supervisors, Admin Staff. He added that hard work had become a culture in the faculty to always make continuous improvements. as gratitude for being the best, Amen ”.
For your information, ISO 9001: 2015 is an international quality management standard system which designed to assist organizations in ensuring that they meet needs of their customers and stakeholders and meet statutory, legal and regulatory requirements related to their products or services. (25/2) Semarang – Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro, Thursday morning held an online Faculty Work Meeting (RKF) for the first time in this semester, through the Ms-Teams application.
RKF was opened and led by the Dean of Engineering Faculty Prof. Ir. Moch. Agung Wibowo, Ph.D and it was also attended by the Deputy Dean for Academics and Student Affairs, Dr. nat. tech. Siswo Sumardiono, MT, Vice Dean for Resources Dr. Abdul Syakur, ST., MT, Head of Administration Ari Eko Wiyantoro M.Si, Faculty of Engineering Quality Assurance Team, and Head of Engineering Faculty Department.
Dean opened the meeting by saying bismillahirahmanirrahim and thank you for everone who attended in the meeting. Dean expressed his gratitude at the beginning of the meeting because in this difficult situation during the pandemic, academic community in Engineering Faculty still showed a strong commitment in carrying out its performance.
The Dean also conveyed the Vision of the Faculty of Engineering this year to “Become an Excellent Faculty at the International Level, Based on Research by 2024”.
Excellence at the International Level means that the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Diponegoro has competitiveness at the international level and become a part of the International Network. Meanwhile, research-based is an advantage at the international level based on research with criteria that describe research-based faculties (PUI, laboratories, collaboration with industry, qualified human resources), and international standard services.
thereafter, presentation by Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs Dr. nat. tech. Siswo Sumardiono, MT regarding the performance achievements in 2020 and targets to be achieved in 2021. According to him, seeing the current pandemic conditions the Faculty has been able to adapt well, one of the indicators is the IKU FT Strategic Plan 2020 report card which reached 86%.
Furthermore, next presentation by the Vice Dean for Resources, Dr. Abdul Syakur, ST., MT. Linier to good achievements of the IKU Renstra by the faculty, FT budget absorption in 2020 is also quite good with a percentage reached 90.3% of the budget of 37,695 M. While in 2021, FT experienced a budget increased and will manage a budget of 51 billion according to listed in the RSA. Of course, this budget increase requires hard work, cardas work and good teamwork, so that it can be utilized properly for the development of FT.
Finally, meeting continued by presentation of Head Department regarding the evaluation of online learning which consists of 12 Departments, namely, the Department of Architecture, the Department of Regional and Urban Planning, the Department of Geology, the Department of Geodesy, the Department of Computer Engineering, the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Naval Architecture, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering, Departement of Civil Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering, and Department of Environmental Engineering.
At the end, Dean of FT advised all participants to maintain enthusiasm, continue to be grateful for having been given the pleasure of working in the world of education, and continue to innovate. Meeting was closed with the jargon of the Faculty of Engineering. Teknik Jaya! (Mardian)
(21/2) Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro explored potential cooperation with a giant automotive company PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMIIN). Meeting between Faculty leaders and TMMIN was held on Monday afternoon through the MS-Teams application. The faculty was represented by the Dean, Prof. Ir. Moch. Agung Wibowo, Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. nat. tech. Siswo Sumardiono, MT, Vice Dean for Resources Dr. Abdul Syakur, ST., MT. and the FT Cooperation Program Coordinator Dr. Gunawan Dwi Hariyadi, MT. On the other side, TMMIN was represented by Syaefudin Juhri (EAD), F. Sales S (PED), and Nur Hana Wijaya (EAD).
This meeting was motivated by planning to build an Engineering Faculty Integrated Laboratory as a facility to support lecture and research activities. In this case, Faculty expects the role of automotive industry to contribute in Indonesia’s education.
Furthermore, the Integrated Lab in the future will be able to improve student skills and competencies. The concept of Integrated Lab is planned to prioritize K3 (ISO: 45001) aspects with sufficient equipment so that it can be utilized by various departments such as the Mechanical Engineering Department, Electrical Engineering Department, Naval Architecture Department, Industrial Engineering Department, and Chemical Engineering Department.
Finally, Faculty and TMIIN also hoped that this facility can be used by a community as a place to develop MSMEs in Indonesia, especially in Central Java.
Recently, Dr. Iwan Rudiarto, one of lecture of Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Engineering Faculty of Universitas Diponegoro became a speaker in Seoul Smart City Conference 2020. This was international conference related to smart city building. It was held by Seoul Metropolitan Government with Seoul Digital Foundation and Graduate School of Environmental Sciences, Seoul National University (GSES, SNU) on 22-23 September 2020 in Seoul, South Korea. It was lived from Seoul City Hall by some online platforms and Youtube.
Dr. Iwan Rudiarto had been including in this networking for more than 7 years and he is the pioneer on this platform. He also presented about “Development and Challenges of Smart City in Indonesia”. On this occasion he said that, “ Engineering Faculty would take more role in Developing of Smart City”. The participants came from various background such as local government, IT entrepreneur, academics, and others. The others speaker were from Seoul National University, Yonsei University, Tshinghua University and European Network of Living Lab. (Mardian)

Faculty of The University of Newcastle (UON) Australia held a Webinar
“University of Newcastle and Diponegoro University Articulation
details” as a continuation of the plan to sign the MoU Double Degree
Program between the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) of Chemical
Engineering, UNDIP with Chemical Engineering, UON.
Presented from
UON Associate Professor Jamie Mackee as Associate Dean of the International
Faculty of Engineering UON, Senior Lecturer Dr. Peter Ireland as the Convenor
Chemical Engineering Program and Ms. Bhavana Chilaka as Senior Engagement
Officer. While from the Faculty of Engineering the Vice Dean of Academic Dr.
Siswo Sumardiono, Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering Dr. Ing
Suherman, Chair of the Undergraduate Study Program Dr. Nita Aryanti and
International Office Coordinator of the Engineering Faculty Dr. Dessy Ariyanti.
The webinar was
attended by around 55 Chemical Engineering students both in the IUP and regular
programs. Discussed began with an introduction from each university then
continued with an explanation of the double degree program including
curriculum, study time, scholarships and admission requirements.
The discussion was quite interactive, many students questioned and expressed their interest in participating in the double degree program. The UON was very optimistic about the implementation of this program and if this program could be implemented. It is possible to have further collaboration by cooperating with another IUP in the Faculty of Engineering. (Mardian)
