INPEX Scholarships Foundation, a non-profit organization from Japan funded by INPEX Corporation, in commemoration of its 15th Anniversary, offers scholarship awards for Indonesian students who wish to continue their study in a postgraduate course at Japanese universities in 2024.
Three (3) students from around Indonesia will be selected and granted the award by the Foundation to study in a Master’s program at Japanese universities.
Requirements for Application
The applicants should satisfy the following requirements below:
- Have the nationality of the Republic of Indonesia and are less than 30 years old at the time of application submission, have a Bachelor’s Degree (“SARJANA”) in Natural Science (such as Engineering, Agriculture, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Computer Science, etc.) from a prestigious Indonesian university with at least 16 years of school education, or equivalent academic background;
- Have an aim to study and research a Natural Science course in a Master’s program at a Japanese university, and were permitted or were expected to be permitted to enter the university;
- Have an excellent academic result (with a minimum GPA of 3.00);
- Permitted by the home university or institution to receive the scholarship from INPEX Scholarship Foundation;
- Have an interest in the friendly relations between the Republic of Indonesia and Japan and are prepared to promote such relations;
- Have not received similar scholarships in Japan for the Program
Payment of the Award
- The awardees’ school and living expenses will be paid by the Foundation;
- The scholarship award in 2024 is as follows:
- School expenses, such as entrance examination fee, entrance fee, tuition fee, etc. will be covered by the Foundation
- A monthly payment of JPY 160,000 will be given to the awardees to cover living expenses, including lodging expenses, medical expenses, transportation fees, internet access fees, books, etc.
- Commuter pass expenses are separately covered by the Foundation
- International airfare from Jakarta, Indonesia to Tokyo, Japan will be covered by the Foundation. All other expenses related to the travel such as passport acquisition fee, visa for entering Japan, etc. are to be covered by the student
- The scholarships will be awarded for a total period of up to two years and eight months

Selection
- The applicants will be selected based on the examination of the documents submitted and interview
- Selection procedures are as follows :
- Primary selection made by the Screening Committee of the Foundation
- Final selection with the Board of Directors of the Foundation

How to Apply
- Applicants should fill out the application form (download the form here) and email the scanned signed file (along with an official self-photograph taken within the last six months with standard graphics formats such as .png or .jpg) to isf-foundation@inpex.co.jp
- Applicants must submit several required documents below
- Printed forms with signature on the last page.
- Academic records issued by the home university
- Letter of Recommendation (LoR)
Confidential letter addressed to the FOUNDATION from either the president or the advisory professor at the graduated university, and/or from the present employer (if currently employed). - Certificate of Graduation issued by home university
- Letter of Acceptance
Confidential letter addressed to the FOUNDATION from the advisory professor at the Japanese university which the applicant wishes to enter. - Curriculum Vitae
- Health certificate issued by Medical Doctor to confirm ability to pursue the program (Certificate in Indonesian is acceptable)
- Certificate of TOEFL iBT / TOEFL ITP / TOEIC / IELTS score record taken after October 2021
- Certificate of Japanese language proficiency (JLPT), if any
- Applicants must bring or send (by registered mail) the required documents with the description of “APPLICATION FOR SCHOLARSHIPS” written on the envelope to the address below

- The deadline for application is 31st October 2023. The email and the documents received with the postmark of the above date are also valid for application and accepted by the FOUNDATION
