(14/3) the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Diponegoro hosted the Indonesian Engineering Dean Forum (Forum Dekan Teknik Indonesia, FDTI). To support the event, the Faculty of Engineering held the “Dean & Staff’s Course 2023” which started on 14 March and ended on 15 March 2023. This event was attended by deans and academic staffs from various engineering faculty across Indonesia. The opening ceremony was held at the Engineering Hall, Dekanat Building 5th Floor. During the opening ceremony, there were approximately 100 participants who took part in the “Dean & Staff’s Course”.
The event was opened by HSE safety induction as a commitment from the Faculty of Engineering to implement the ISO:45001 certification mandate. The event then continued by singing the National Anthem, Indonesia Raya, and several remarks. The first remarks were delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Undip, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M, M.Sc, Ph.D
In his speech, Prof. Agung said that this event aimed to strengthen the relationship between the engineering faculties throughout Indonesia and also share the knowledge and innovation related to the best practice of organization governance and the development of the latest issues related to engineering education in the country. “I hope that later we can share experiences in managing the engineering faculty in this event,” Prof Agung emphasized that point.
Regarding the success of the Faculty of Engineering Undip in achieving the ZI-WBK (Zona Integritas Wilayah Bebas Korupsi, Integrity Zone – Corruption-Free Zone, a predicate for the best anti-corruption and the most integrity institution that was given by the Indonesian Government) predicate, Prof. Agung said that the Faculty of Engineering is widely open for every institution which wants to do a comparative study related to the implementation of the Integrity Zone development program. In the “Dean & Staff’s Course 2023” event itself, the Faculty of Engineering has prepared a separate session to discuss the Change Management Strategies that the Faculty of Engineering Undip and UGM had done (as two engineering faculties that have succeeded in gaining the ZI-WBK title) so they can get that prestigious title, “Later, ladies and gentlemen, you can learn directly about ZI-WBK at this opportunity. We are open to sharing our knowledge with the ladies and the gentlemen here,” said Prof. Agung in his speech.
The next remarks were delivered by the Head of FDTI, Prof. Ir. Selo, S.T, M.T, M.Sc, Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN Eng. Prof Selo expressed his gratitude to the host, the Faculty of Engineering Undip, for preparing many things to welcome the guests who came from various engineering education institutions from all over Indonesia. He also expressed his hopes regarding the FDTI’s works in the future, where he hoped that later FDTI could continue to develop and provide benefits not only for its member but also for the nation and the state.
The last remarks were delivered by the Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Yos Johan Utama, S.H, M.Hum. As the leader of Universitas Diponegoro, he showed his utmost gratitude to the Faculty of Engineering for being able to provide the best service for the guests and sustaining the good image of Universitas Diponegoro. Prof. Yos in his remarks also mentioned the ZI-WBK title that the Faculty of Engineering Undip had obtained in 2021. For him, an institution is supposed to provide the best service that is free from corruption, collusion, and nepotism. The existence of corruption cases that involve some educational institutions lately has become a concern for Universitas Diponegoro. “Recently, many campus officials have been caught by the OTT (Operasi Tangkap Tangan, Arrest Hand Operation, by the Corruption Eradication Committee/KPK). This case is, of course, become a point that we should criticize as an educational institution,” said Prof. Yos in his remarks. Through the “Dean & Staff’s Course 2023”, he hoped that the Faculty of Engineering Undip can share about how to construct the Integrity Zone and teach the Diponegoro values to the participants.
The opening ceremony was then closed by a prayer session led by the Vice Dean of Resource Affairs, Dr. Ir. Abdul Syakur, ST., MT., IPU ST. The event then continued with the main courses consisting of two main classes, namely the Dean’s Course which the deans and their staffs attended, and the Staff’s Course which was attended by the academic staff from various engineering faculties. Each class was filled with competent speakers and discussed several topics, ranging from organization governance, the implementation of a Performance Action Plan (PAP), change management and innovation about ZI-WBK, teamwork training, to public speaking training and Tour of Duty in several units in the Faculty of Engineering for staffs.
FDTI is an opportunity for the participants not only to gain new knowledge and experience but also to discuss and share experiences regarding the innovative programs and collaborations between the engineering faculties throughout Indonesia. The hope is, later the forum participants can make changes to their respective faculties. Imam Safi’I, S.T, M.T, IPM, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Kadiri who was also the participant in the forum, expressed his gratitude to all the Dean & Staff’s Course 2023 committees and the FDTI. “Services in the Faculty of Engineering quite impressed me. Here I also get many opportunities to collaborate with other universities,” he said.
